LPC and BPTC Graduates

If you already hold a Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) (formerly the Bar Vocational Course BVC ) qualification then you are exempt from the CILEx academic qualifications. There is no training contract or pupillage required by CILEx.

There are many LPC and BPTC graduates who, for one reason and another, do not get a training contract or pupillage. CILEx provides an alternative route into the profession to practice alongside solicitors and barristers.

LPC and BPTC graduates can apply to become CILEx Graduate Members. You will be exempt from any further academic study and can use the designatory letters GCILEx.

You just need to complete three years' of qualifying employment with at least one year accrued within the Graduate Member grade to become a fully qualified Chartered Legal Executive lawyer.
