The snooker rankings were first introduced in 1976. Welshman Ray Reardon was on top the first few years, but the 80's were dominated by Steve Davis. He was No. 1 from 1983 to 1989. Stephen Hendry was equally dominating in the 90's, holding the top spot from 1990 to 1997. He managed to regain the position in 2006. For the last six years Mark Selby has been on top though.
