Biography
Jeremy Cliffe is Brussels bureau chief for The Economist and writes the weekly Charlemagne column on Europe. He joined in 2012 and has been political correspondent, Bagehot columnist and Berlin bureau chief. He covered Britain’s referendum on Brexit and Germany’s federal election in 2017, among other events. Mr Cliffe appears frequently in the English-, French- and German-language broadcast media and has written for Die Welt, the BBC and The Guardian. He studied at Oxford and Harvard universities.
