BTS Add Date at NYC's Citi Field, Become First-Ever K-Pop Act to Play U.S. Stadium
BTS will make history on Oct. 6 when they become the first-ever Korean artist to perform a stadium show in the United States, it was confirmed today (Aug. 8) by local Love Yourself tour promoter Powerhouse Live.
The group will end the North American leg of their upcoming world tour in New York City at Queens' Citi Field. The news comes after the septet previously sold out more than a dozen shows in the United States and Canada, including two in Newark, New Jersey the prior weekend.
According to Powerhouse, Citi Field has a capacity for 40,000 concertgoers. It will be the largest concert ever put on Stateside by any Korean artist. Citi Field is the home to MLB baseball team the New York Mets.
Tickets will go on-sale next Friday, Aug. 17 at 4PM EST, just a week before BTS releases their highly-anticipated Love Yourself: Answer album on Aug. 24.
The announcement comes amid BTS' unparalleled success in the U.S. market and around the world. They became the first ever Korean act to top the Billboard 200 in May with Love Yourself: Tear, which was the first predominantly non-English album to top the chart since 2012.
Along with the immense North American tour, the act will also tour multiple cities Europe and recently announced multiple dome shows in Japan.
BTS' Love Yourself world tour kicks off in Seoul on Aug. 25. All currently on-sale shows are entirely sold out.
