Many fans were disappointed when The Edge TV was axed from Freeview to make way for ThreeLife in July last year. The channel first launched in 2014, replacing music video channel C4.

MediaWorks chief executive Michael Anderson said in a statement the revival of the channel was a response to audience preferences.

"We're a business that continues to refine, adapt and evolve our offerings to our viewers. We continue to try new approaches to deliver what people want," he said.

"The introduction of ThreeLife and ThreeLifePlus1 was an example of this. The launch of Edge and Breeze TV continues this process."

In a Q&A on its website, Three said ThreeLife ultimately didn't find the audience it had hoped for relative to its cost base.

ThreeLife shows would be rehomed on Three and ThreeNow. Shows include Millionaire Hot Seat, Bondi Rescue, Masterchef UK, Restoration Man and Better Homes and Gardens

MediaWorks' statement said the changes were unrelated to the sale of Three which is still ongoing.

"This is business as usual with the relationship between MediaWorks and radio continuing, which includes seeking opportunities for the businesses to work together and leverage one another accordingly."
