The Museum of Contemporary Art Busan, a public art museum specializing in contemporary arts, opened to the public on June 16, 2018. The museum is located in Eulsukdo, Saha-gu.
The museum will be used as the exclusive venue for 2018 Busan Biennale, which takes place from September 9 to November 11, 2018. As a “Glolocal (Global + Local)” museum specializing in the surrounding nature and environment of Eulsukdo and stressing ecological value, it serves as a community museum for residents in the West Busan area with various exhibitions, and experimental and educational programs being planned.
The museum, with 15,312 square meters of floor space, was built on 29,900 square meters of land and has facilities including: an exhibition space, storage, lecture and seminar halls, a children’s art library, archives, and a gallery café.
Museum of Contemporary Art Busan: Inaugural Exhibitions
The inaugural exhibitions will be on display from June 16 through August 12, 2018, except “Vertical Garden” and “Tobias SPACE: Yourself is sometimes a place to call your own”.

The nation’s biggest vertical garden with 175 species of Korean native plants was installed on the museum building’s exterior. They are expected to grow and settle in as a symbol of the museum.
It underlines the relationship between art and the surrounding natural environment of the museum’s geographical characteristics located in Eulsukdo, which is designated as Natural Monument No. 179. It will be permanently on display at the museum.

Art installation and wall-painting in the lobby and the first floor of the museum will be on display permanently.

A free shuttle bus between Hadan metro station and the museum plans to be in operation soon.
