Czech PM: Italians Should Be Banned From Travelling Due to Coronavirus

While European and non-European countries are increasing the checks on travellers who come from Italy, the Czech Prime Minister has another idea of the measures that should be taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

According to Andrej Babis, Czech Prime Minister, Italy should ban all its citizens from travelling to Europe, in order to maintain the situation caused by the coronavirus outbreak under control, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

“Italy should ban all its citizens from travelling to Europe because we are not able to order such a thing within (the European Union’s borderless area) Schengen,” Babis asserted.

On Sunday, Italy imposed a virtual lockdown across a swathe of its wealthy north, including Milan, in an attempt to put to an end to the further spread of the deadly coronavirus.

“European countries cannot ban the entry of Italian citizens within the Schengen area. The only possible way is to have the Italian prime minister call on his fellow citizens to refrain from travelling to other countries of the European Union. We do not know whether the coronavirus infection will be limited to those 16 million people who are now under quarantine [in northern Italy],” Babis highlighted.

Czech PM added that about 16,000 Czech nationals, who are presently in Italy should return to the Czech Republic as soon as possible.

Any Czech citizen returning from Italy should be put under a 14-day quarantine, the Czech Republic new government decree asserts. Those who don’t follow Czech’s latest decision will have to pay up to $130,000.

So far, in the Czech Republic are reported 32 cases, without any death cases.

The total number of persons infected by coronavirus worldwide has gone up to 110,000 while the number of deaths is 3,831.

Up to this point, there are more than 80,000 of Chinese citizens infected by the coronavirus.

Aside from China, three other countries are profoundly affected by the coronavirus; South Korea, Italy and Iran.

In South Korea, the number of cases reached 7,478, following Italy with 7,375 cases and Iran with 6,566 persons infected by COVID 19.
