Snooker news - Neil Robertson knocks in three tons in emphatic march to semi-finals

Plenty of big names have crashed out of the tournament, including John Higgins at the hands of Un-Nooh, but Robertson has been consistently strong.

The 2010 world champion kept up that fine form on Friday as he dispatched his Thai opponent in emphatic fashion.

Robertson opened in style with breaks of 104 and 107 before Un-Nooh eventually got on the board at 3-1.

However, there was nothing he could do to stop the Australian’s march and he sealed victory with breaks of 87 and 115.

"It was perfect, one of my best performances of the season," Robertson told World Snooker Tour.

"I played Thepchaiya at the Scottish Open last month and he beat me 4-0 in 40 minutes, it was unbelievable. Everyone on tour knows what he is capable of, I just hope he can do that more on the TV tables and get into the top 16."

Robertson will face Masters runner-up Ali Carter in the semi-finals after he beat Scott Donaldson 5-1 in the other early quarter-final.

Carter did not have the rampant scoring of Robertson but was still in control for the majority of the match as he recorded an emphatic victory of his own.

In the evening session, Zhou Yuelong sprung a surprise when he knocked out Barry Hawkins.

The 22-year-old raced into a four-frame lead, and although he was briefly pegged back to 4-2, he sealed victory with a 113 break.

Gary Wilson matched Robertson's haul of three centuries as he stormed into the last four with a 5-3 victory over Marco Fu.

Wilson crept over the three-figure mark with knocks of 104, 105 and 105 to book a meeting with Zhou.
