    America United: An Inauguration Welcome Event Celebrating America’s Changemakers

    The Presidential Inaugural Committee is hosting a welcome event to celebrate America, reflect and honor our history, and highlight the incredible diversity of the nation. Featuring musical performances, celebrity appearances, and remarks from some of the most popular leaders from across the country, the event will kick off five days of programming leading into the inauguration.

    We The People Concert

    We are hosting a first-of-its-kind virtual inaugural concert that will support this historic moment in our country’s history. This event is a celebration of the inauguration in honor of the countless grassroots supporters who have pitched in to restore the soul of our nation and usher in the Biden-Harris Administration. The concert will be hosted by Keegan-Michael Key and Debra Messing and feature other speakers and performers, including AJR, Michael Bivins, Connie Britton, Sophia Bush, DJ Cassidy, Cher, Fall Out Boy, Ben Harper, Carole King, Kal Penn, James Taylor, and will.i.am. The event will also feature messages from President-elect Biden, Dr. Biden, Vice President-elect Harris, and Doug Emhoff.

    “United We Serve” National Day of Service

    The Presidential Inaugural Committee is partnering with local, state, and national organizations on service events for the National Day of Service on January 18, 2021, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and ahead of the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The National Day of Service is an opportunity for all Americans to unite and serve at a time when the global pandemic calls on all of us to work together and support our communities.     “United We Serve” A Celebration of the National MLK Day of Service

    The National Day of Service will culminate in an hour-long celebration that will feature a diverse array of entertainers, inspiring speakers, and stories celebrating the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to service. Confirmed participants include  Rev. Dr. Bernice King, Martin Luther King III, Aloe Blacc, Chesca, Rep. Sharice Davids, Rosario Dawson, Andra Day, Yo-Yo Ma, Rev. Al Sharpton, Sean Patrick Thomas, Diane Warren, Lynn Whitfield, Bebe Winans, and more.

    Virtual Field Trip, presented by Discovery "I Do Solemnly Swear: The U.S. Presidential Inauguration"

    Discovery Inc. and Discovery Education will provide a virtual learning experience to educators, students, and families. The program will feature a greeting to students from Dr. Biden and provide behind the scenes access to this historic event through a series of interviews with inaugural experts and historians.     Nationwide COVID-19 Memorial

    The Presidential Inaugural Committee will host a memorial to remember and honor the lives lost to COVID-19 in cities and towns across the country. A Washington, D.C. ceremony will feature a lighting around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. We are inviting cities and towns across the country to join Washington, D.C. in illuminating buildings and ringing church bells at 5:30 p.m. ET in a national moment of unity and remembrance.     AAPI Inaugural Ball: Breaking Barriers

    In partnership with IMPACT and RUN AAPI, we are joining an Inaugural Ball celebrating the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and the multitude of contributions they make to our nation. The event will feature remarks from AAPI organizers, political leaders, celebrities and musical, comedy, and cultural performances. Confirmed participants include OMB Director-designate Neera Tanden; Reps. Ami Bera, Pramila Jayapal, Andy Kim, and Raja Krishnamoorthi; former Olympian Michelle Kwan; actors Kal Penn, John Cho, Kumail Nanjiani, and Chloe Bennet; performances by Japanese Breakfast, Ari Afsar, Raja Kumari; and more.

    We Are One

    The Presidential Inaugural Committee will host an evening celebration to honor and celebrate all within the Black Community and African Diaspora, featuring powerful speakers, inspiring stories, and entertaining performances. The event will be hosted by Terrence J and feature appearances by Leslie Jones, Frankie Beverly, Stacey Abrams, Whip Jim Clyburn, Rep. Cedric Richmond, Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Rep. Joyce Beatty, Senator Cory Booker, Senator-Elect Rev. Raphael Warnock, Kim Fields, Erika Alexander, and Jason George. It will also feature a special performance by Tobe Nwigwe, in addition to performances by DJ D-Nice, The O’Jays, Rapsody, Step Afrika, the String Queens, the Texas Southern University Debate Team, and more. The event will also include a Battle of the Bands, featuring Florida A&M University Marching 100, Grambling State University World Famed Marching Band, Jackson State University Sonic Boom of the South, Louisiana Leadership Institute All-star Marching Band, South Carolina State University Marching 101, Southern University Human Jukebox Marching Band, and the Tennessee State University Aristocrat of Bands.

    Latino Inaugural 2021: Inheritance, Resilience, and Promise

    In partnership with the Hispanic Federation and over 50 co-host organizations, we are joining an Inaugural tribute to tell the story of Latinos’ contributions to our nation. The event will be hosted by Eva Longoria and feature appearances by Lin-Manuel Miranda, John Leguizamo, Rita Moreno, Edward James Olmos, Ivy Queen, and Becky G. There will be musical performances from Gilberto Santa Rosa, Gaby Moreno featuring David Garza, and All-Star Tejanos United – Stefani Montiel, Jose Posada, Shelly Lares, DJ Kane, and Mariachi Nuevo Santander from Roma High School in Roma, Texas. The event will also include an Emilio Estefan produced performance of One World, One Prayer by the Wailers, featuring Skip Marley, Farruko, Shaggy and Cedella Marley. The Latino Inaugural 2021 event will stream live at bideninaugural.org/watch, The Choice channel on Peacock, Telemundo’s digital and social platforms, Univision’s digital and social platforms, and on Hispanic Federation and PIC social channels from 9:30-10:30 PM Eastern.     Inaugural Ceremonies

    President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will be sworn in on the West front of the U.S. Capitol building. After they take their oaths of office, President-elect Biden will deliver an inaugural address laying out his vision to defeat the pandemic, build back better, and unify and heal the nation. 

     

    Following the ceremony, the President-elect, First Lady, Vice President-elect, and Second Gentleman will participate in a Pass in Review on the East front with members of the military. Pass in Reviews are a long-standing military tradition that reflect the peaceful transfer of power to a new Commander-in-Chief.

    Our White House: An Inaugural Celebration for Young Americans

    The PIC will host a first-ever curated livestream for young Americans before and during the Inaugural Ceremonies. The livestream, hosted by award winning entertainer and advocate Keke Palmer, will feature a special message from Dr. Jill Biden; commentary from historians Doris Kearns Goodwin and Erica Armstrong Dunbar; a segment on presidential pets produced by Nickelodeon; excerpts of student voices from PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs “We the Young People” programming; trivia questions, including some asked by Doug Emhoff; segments produced by the Library of Congress; and other special features.

    Wreath Laying at Arlington National Cemetery

    The President-elect, Dr. Biden, the Vice President-elect, and Mr. Emhoff will visit Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They will be joined by President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, President George W. Bush and Laura Bush, and President Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton.

    Presidential Escort

    President-elect Biden will receive a Presidential Escort from 15th Street to the White House with every branch of the military will be represented in the escort, including The U.S. Army Band, a Joint Service Honor Guard, and the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard and Fife and Drum Corps from the 3rd U.S. Infantry “The Old Guard.”

     

    The Presidential Escort to the White House will be followed by a “Parade Across America,” which will be televised for the American people and feature diverse, dynamic performances in communities across the country.

    Celebrating America Primetime Special

    Hosted by Tom Hanks, this 90-minute prime-time program will feature remarks from President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris and include remarks and performances that represent the rich diversity and extensive talent America offers. Celebrating America will feature Ant Clemons, Jon Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, John Legend, Eva Longoria, Demi Lovato, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, and Kerry Washington.
