Howard University Drumline to perform during the Inaugural 'Parade Across America'

The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced a full list of its performances for the virtual "Parade Across America" scheduled on Inauguration Day at 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 20.

According to the committee, the performers will represent all 56 states and U.S. territories, and "celebrate America's heroes, and highlight the diversity, heritage, and resilience of the country."

The committee also announced that the University of Delaware Drumline and Howard University Drumline, the alma maters of President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris, will also join in on the Presidential Escort in D.C.

These drumlines are set to escort Biden and Harris from 15th Street to the White House to kick off the parade along with the live performances.

“As a nation, we are strengthened by our respect for one another. By lifting up voices from all walks of life, in every corner of our country, we want the first moments of the Biden-HarrisAdministration to be a celebration of an inclusive, resilient united America,” said the Presidential Inaugural Committee's CEO and president of Delaware State University, Tony Allen.

After the ceremonies and performances, Biden and Harris are scheduled to visit Arlington National Cemetery before being escorted by a representative from every branch of the military to the White House, which according to the committee, includes the U.S. Army Band, a Joint Service Honor Guard, and Drum Corps from the U.S. Infantry's "Old Guard."

Actor, director, and producerTony Goldwyn will host the parade, and the parade will feature performers and athletes like Jon Stewart, New Radicals who are reuniting for the first time 22 years, DJ Cassidy's Pass The Mic, featuring Earth Wind & Fire, Nile Rodgers, Kathy Sledge, The Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, The Washington Chorus, and The Triumph Baptist Church Choir. Other performances will include Andra Day featuring figure skater Kaitlyn Saunders also known as the Stake Kid, Olympic athletes Nathan Chen, Allyson Felix, and Katie Ledecky, and "viral sensation and feel-good skateboarder Nathan Apodaca, also known as DoggFace."

The United States Coast Guard Band and U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon will also be present for the parade, along with Dance Across America with director and choreographer Kenny Ortega.

Segments of the parade will involve 275 participants from 30 states and two territories, along with the Ryan Martin Foundation, a wheelchair basketball program joining the parade, the committee says.

The committee says community heroes like Dr. Jason Campbell, the "Tik Tok Doc," who tries to lift spirits during the pandemic; Cathy Cluck, a history teacher who inspired her students by highlighting themes across America by living it; Mama Mikki Stevens, an 80-year-old performer who leads a community-service oriented musical and comedy performance organization 'Red Hot Mamas'; and Jason Zgonc, a 12-year-old trumpeter who played all summer during hospital workers' break time to help cheer them up.

Performers and speakers across the country will also perform or speak, which the committee announced includes the following:

  • Florida: Andrew Jackson High School JR Air Force ROTC
  • Idaho: Red Hot Mamas
  • Illinois: South Shore Drill Team
  • Indiana: Culver Academies
  • Iowa: Isiserettes Drill and Drum Corps
  • Louisiana: Youth Empowerment Project (YEP)
  • Massachusetts: MA Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard
  • Michigan: Michigan’s Multi-Jurisdictional Mounted Police Drill Team and Color Guard
  • New Jersey: Teaneck High School Flag Twirlers
  • New York: FDNY EMS Emerald Pipes & Drums
  • Nevada: Mariachi Joya – Las Vegas High School
  • North Carolina: High Country Cloggers
  • Ohio: Kenton Ridge Marching Cougar Band
  • Oregon: American Sidesaddle Association
  • Pennsylvania: Boy Scout Troop 358
  • Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico Royalty Winterguard, Centenaria Banda Colegio University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez, Latin Power Dance & Arts, Banda Macaná de Guayanilla
  • South Carolina: 81st Readiness Division
  • Texas: Kilgore College Rangerettes
  • USVI: Batons, Dancers, Steel Drums, Street Parade
  • Virginia: Tragedy Assistance Program For Survivors [TAPS]
  • International: Military Children Connected Overseas

The committee adds that this virtual parade and all the Inaugural events will be virtual and will be accessible to stream starting at 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 20.
