Mark Allen bowed out of the German Masters in Berlin at the last-16 stage after being beaten 5-2 by Judd Trump on Thursday night.
Trump, who defeated Allen in the UK Championship final in December, took a 2-0 lead before the Northern Irishman opened his account.
The Englishman then extended his advantage to 4-1 and while Allen responded, Trump then sealed victory.
Earlier on Thursday, Allen had edged out Tom Ford 5-4 in the first round.
The Antrim player made a poor start to trail 3-0 but he managed to find form in time to edge through.
