TORONTO (June 4, 2020) – With the 2019/20 core television season now at a close, Numeris data confirms that CTV is Canada’s most-watched television network in primetime for an unprecedented 19th year in a row. Looking at television performance in Canada for the broadcast season, CTV delivered the most Top 10, Top 20, and Top 30 programs with total viewers, A18-49, and A25-54. Overall Audience Highlights
  • CTV and CTV2 are the only conventional television networks in Canada to see full-day growth among total viewers for the past two years
  • CTV remains the most-watched network across Daytime, Primetime, and Late Night, leading with total viewers and across the key A25-54, A18-34, and A18-49 demos
  • CTV’s full-day audience has grown 3% to now lead its closest competitor by 57% with total viewers, with a 34% advantage in primetime
  • In the key A25-54 demo, CTV’s advantage has grown 8% in primetime, expanding its lead over its closest competitor to 30%
  • CTV reaches 18 million Canadians on average each week, more than any other network
  • CTV is the most-watched network in primetime five days of the week
  • Streaming audiences on CTV.ca have increased double digits over last year
2019/2020 Primetime Schedule CTV delivered the most-watched new series of the year with 9-1-1: LONE STAR, leading with total viewers and across all key demos, marking the tenth consecutive year the #1 new series among A25-54 has landed on the network. Including 9-1-1: LONE STAR, CTV has three of the Top 5 new programs for total viewers and A25-54. Among A25-54, CTV is also home to the most-watched comedy (THE CONNERS), most-watched drama (grey’s anatomy), most-watched daytime talk program (ELLEN), and the most-watched entertainment news program (ETALK). With a strong slate of CTV Original series on the schedule, CTV has the two most-watched Canadian dramas (TRANSPLANT and CARDINAL), and the most-watched new Canadian lifestyle series, I DO, REDO.   • THE GOOD DOCTOR is the most-watched program in Canada with total viewers, and the #1 drama among A18-34. The Season 3 finale was watched by 3 million Canadians, the highest audience for the series in two years.
  • GREY’S ANATOMY experienced double-digit year-over-year growth with total viewers and in the A25-54 and A18-49 demos, and is the most-streamed series across CTV.ca and the CTV app
  • STATION 19 is a Top 10 series, and experienced double-digit year-over-year growth with total viewers. Season 3 ranks as the most-watched season yet with total viewers.
  • THE MASKED SINGER is a Top 5 program across all key demos, seeing double-digit audience growth for Season 3 with A25-54 over Season 2 in fall 2019
  • CTV Original series TRANSPLANT is the #1 new Canadian series with total viewers and in all key demos, ranking in the Top 20 with total viewers and A25-54. The medical drama is the most-watched new Canadian series since 2017 (THE INDIAN DETECTIVE) and biggest new Canadian drama since 2015 (BOOK OF NEGROES).
  • THE ROOKIE is a Top 20 program overall, ranking in the Top 10 with A18-34, and is Sunday night’s most-watched program
  • THIS IS US ranks in the Top 10 with A18-34 and A18-49, and is a Top 20 program overall
  • Comedies on CTV continue to be strong performers, with THE CONNERS remaining the #1 comedy with A25-54 and A18-49; YOUNG SHELDON as Canada’s #1 comedy with total viewers; and BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA as the #1 new comedy in Canada
Event Programming CTV remains Canada’s destination for key event programming, home to the most anticipated and buzzed-about television events of the year. SUPER BOWL LIV is the most-watched broadcast of 2020, and was the most-watched SUPER BOWL ever in Canada, attracting a record average audience of 9.6 million viewers on CTV, TSN, and RDS. Also ranking among the most-watched events of the year is THE OSCARS®, which was watched by 4.8 million viewers, and the inspirational STRONGER TOGETHER, TOUS ENSEMBLE with 3.2 million viewers across Bell Media networks.   • Continuing as Canada’s #1 national newscast, CTV NATIONAL NEWS is watched on average by 1.1 million Canadians, and grew its lead over its closest competition in the A25-54 demo to +75% vs. GLOBAL NATIONAL, and +115% vs. CBC’s THE NATIONAL.
  • CTV NEWS AT SIX is watched by 1.6 million viewers (+7% P2+) across Canada, and ranks #1 in all diary markets it competes in. CTV Toronto’s edition of CTV NEWS AT SIX remains the city’s most-watched newscast, more than doubling the A25-54 audience of its next closest competitor.
  • W5 continues as Canada’s most-watched documentary series, seeing audience growth of 12% with total viewers and in the A25-54 demo, reaching 2.2 million Canadians each week.
  • CTV News continues to be Canada’s trusted source for information, with the most-watched federal election coverage (Oct. 2019)

  • THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW reaches 2 million Canadians a week, and has seen year-over-year growth with total viewers and across all key demos

  • YOUR MORNING has achieved double-digit year-over-year growth with total viewers and in the key A18-34 and A18-49 demos, reaching 2.3 million Canadians a week
