BTS Spends 15th Week at No. 1 on Artist 100 Chart, White Stripes Debut

BTS rules the Billboard Artist 100 chart for a 15th total week, thanks to two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and two albums on the Billboard 200 (dated Dec. 19).

BTS rules the Billboard Artist 100 chart for a 15th total week, thanks to two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and two albums on the Billboard 200 (dated Dec. 19).

The group’s first Hot 100 No. 1, “Dynamite,” ranks at No. 24, followed by third leader “Life Goes On” at No. 93. The latter became the first predominantly Korean-language song to rule the Hot 100 upon its debut two weeks ago. (Concurrently, “Dynamite” becomes the first hit by an all-Korean act to reach the top five of the Pop Songs radio airplay chart.)

BTS also leads the Artist 100 on the strength of its latest LP Be, at No. 18 on the Billboard 200, following its No. 1 arrival, with 31,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. The group’s fellow former No. 1 Map of the Soul: 7 follows at No. 135 (9,000 units).

With its 15th week on top of the Artist 100, BTS extends its record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 among duos/groups. The septet also ties Ariana Grande for the fourth-most time on top overall, dating to the chart’s 2014 launch.

Among other Artist 100 chart moves, Shawn Mendes bounds from No. 45 to No. 3 as his new album, Wonder, opens at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and Mariah Carey jumps 21-5 on the Artist 100, returning to her best rank, first reached last holiday season, as her “All I Want for Christmas Is You” revisits the top of the Hot 100.

Additionally, The White Stripes debut at No. 52 on the Artist 100, thanks to the duo’s new The White Stripes Greatest Hits, which arrives at No. 33 on the Billboard 200 (24,000 units). Last year, the act’s Jack White became the first artist to lead the Artist 100 in different iterations: first as a solo act in 2018 and then as a member of The Raconteurs in 2019. Plus, other project The Dead Weather spent a week on the Artist 100 at No. 32 in 2015. (The White Stripes disbanded in 2011, before the Artist 100 began in 2014.)

The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
