Just under two months since the release of Move in October, K-pop singer Taemin will return Sunday with an extended version of the album called Move-ing. But ahead of its release, the SHINee member dropped a stunning music video Thursday (Dec. 7) for the new song “Day and Night.”
The ambient pop ballad incorporates romantic, flamenco-style strings and layers the singer’s vocals over a swaying, sensual rhythm. With lilting synth beats woven over the melody, it’s a more tender, wistful style than Taemin typically veers toward, but the mellow nature of the song lends itself to one of the artist’s most evocative performances to date.
“Day and Night” was co-composed by Taemin and features lyrics penned by the K-pop star.
The new song was released ahead of Move-ing through an aesthetically pleasing music video. It features Taemin roaming a forest-covered mountain, emotively singing about a romance where the two people are like the titular “Day and Night.” It’s not the first time the youngest member of SHINee has filmed a breathtaking solo music video that brings him close to nature; he performed in a desert for the choreography-focused video for last year’s “Drip Drop.”
Move-ing will feature four original songs, including “Day and Night,” alongside the original nine tracks released on Move. It is Taemin’s first reissued album since he started pursuing a solo path in 2014 in addition to his role as a member of one of K-pop’s most popular groups.
