When it came time for their performance at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night (Oct. 14), BTS decided it was time to light it up like “Dynamite.”
Joining the ceremony from South Korea, BTS appeared in full smoky jazz club attire, performing their hit single on a massive stage.
Backed by a virtual band, the group delivered their signature, slick choreography, before ultimately zooming out to reveal that their seemingly outdoor venue was a massive hangar all along, with a simulated plane taking off overhead.
The new performance only adds to the band’s success over the last few weeks — in September, BTS scored their first-ever No. 1 on the Hot 100 with “Dynamite.” Earlier this week, the group became the first to dominate the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Social 50 chart for 200 weeks.
Along with their stellar performance, BTS was also nominated for two BBMAs: top duo/group, and top social artist (which they won shortly before their performance). The event, hosted by pop icon Kelly Clarkson, also boasted massive talent, including performances from stars like Demi Lovato, Post Malone and many more.
The 2020 Billboard Music Awards is produced by dick clark productions, which is owned by MRC Entertainment, the parent company of Billboard.
