Blackpink Score Third No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales Chart, Lead K-Pop Females

Blackpink is making a major case to be the girl group to watch in America with "As If It's Your Last" going to No. 1 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart and new highs on other charts.

Blackpink is making a major case to be the girl group to watch in America with the chart accomplishments and excitement of their latest single.

The quartet’s “As If It’s Your Last” debuts at No. 1 on Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart with the smoky, electro-pop cut selling 4,000 downloads in the week ending June 22, according to Nielsen Music. Remarkably, the quartet landed this feat with just one day of activity after the single was released on June 22, the final day of Nielsen’s tracking week for the chart.

The chart-topper marks Blackpink’s third No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales which now makes them the leader among all female K-pop acts. Previously, both 2NE1 and Blackpink had two No. 1s, but “As If It’s Your Last” joins August 2016’s “Bumbaya” and November’s “Playing With Fire” as the group’s latest leader.

Despite being less than a year old, Blackpink only trails established acts PSY and BTS for the most No. 1s on World Digital Song Sales among K-pop acts, who both have four. Blackpink is now tied with BIGBANG, who also have three. 2NE1 and EXO (both with two) are the only other acts to boast multiple No. 1s on the chart giving indication for how rare it is for Korean acts to take the top spot, much less multiple times.

“As If It’s Your Last” continues Blackpink’s fierce, electro-pop sound, but once again sees the ladies in deep infatuation. 2NE1’s main producer Teddy is once again in control for another cut that sounds like it continues the legacy of the senior group.

The new track is said to preview Blackpink’s upcoming Square Three release, which is yet to he confirmed as an EP or full album. Notably, Blackpink’s Square Two EP (released in November with the singles “Playing With Fire” and “Stay”) returns to the World Albums chart this week, resurfacing at No. 12, for its 15th week on the chart after it peaked at No. 2.

Elsewhere, Blackpink hits a new high on the Social 50 chart which we detail here. Blackpink’s No. 15 spot outranks fellow girl groups on this week’s chart including Fifth Harmony (No. 31) and Little Mix (No. 45).
