INTL: BMG Appoints Distribution And Marketing Partners For Sanctuary And Mute Catalogues

BERLIN, 25 June 2013 – Rights management company BMG has announced details of four key marketing and distribution deals in relation to its newly-acquired Sanctuary and Mute Records catalogues, encompassing some of the best-known artists in popular music. The appointments form part of BMG’s plan to upgrade the exploitation of the historic Sanctuary and Mute catalogues, and reflect its philosophy of seeking the best exploitation set-up for different types of repertoire. In all cases BMG’s innovative approach to rights management will see registration of works, royalty accounting, sales reporting and synch undertaken in-house, campaign planning and shipment control in collaboration with the partner, and digital and physical retail marketing, sales, manufacturing and distribution services handled by the partner. The four distribution and marketing partners announced today are: - who will provide digital and physical retail marketing, sales, manufacturing, and distribution services for over 150,000 Mute and Sanctuary recordings for the world excluding USA and Canada; -INgrooves, who will provide the same services in the USA and Canada; -Universal Music Group, who will continue to handle the exploitation of 19 Black Sabbath albums BMG acquired with Sanctuary until End March 2014 -Sony Music Entertainment, who will handle the Depeche Mode catalogue BMG acquired with Mute Records. BMG says this hybrid approach is designed to provide the optimal service to artists and rights owners.
