Spotify's half-price plan for students comes to 33 more countries

Because no one should have to hear ads while studying.

Spotify already makes half-price Premium subscriptions available to students in the US, the UK and Germany, but the company is now ready to let hundreds of thousands of more users in on the deal. Starting today, Spotify is expanding the program to 33 more countries around the world.

In addition to ad-free streaming for "the duration of their student life," students also get access to offline listening and the Premium tier's improved sound quality. Students simply need to head to Spotify.com/student to sign up and SheerID handles all the business of verifying that you're actually a student. Note that Spotify doesn't clarify how many years the deal is good for, but in the US at least users get a one-year discount that can be renewed up to three times for a total of four years.
