Miley Cyrus recently surprised and delighted many of her fans by announcing that she not only had new music coming very soon, but that it was to be delivered over a period of time, instead of all at one time. The superstar is gifting her followers with three six-song EPs, which will eventually be packaged as an album with a slightly different name. Part one of the project, an EP titled She Is Coming, debuted at No. 5 on this week's Billboard 200, and upcoming collections may fare equally as well...but that's not the only reason why this plan makes sense for the pop favorite.

Here are three ways Miley Cyrus' new rollout plan may keep her fans buying what she's been cooking up in the studio.

Keeps Her Releasing Music

It used to be that musicians could work on an album for a few years, release it, and then promote it for the same period of time, but now things move much faster. If artists aren’t either delivering new projects every year or year and a half, or at least keeping their latest full-length on the charts with hit singles and massive promotion, they may end up being pushed out of the spotlight by newcomers churning out tunes at a more consistent pace.

By delivering a trio of EPs throughout a period of several months, Miley is giving her fans more of what they want, only in smaller doses. When an artist drops an album, they run the risk of it being forgotten in a few weeks, at which point they need to start work on the follow-up, while still promoting and touring their recent effort. Miley is doing her best to game the system by recording an album and delivering it to fans in pieces.

A new release, even if it's one that is only a few weeks behind a previous one, always excites fans, many of whom will rush out in the moment and purchase the new collection.

Cheaper Prices Might Mean More Sales

Superfans are always going to buy a musician’s new album, but there are plenty who only identify as casual listeners, and they are harder to win over. Miley’s team is hoping that by offering her new album She Is Miley Cyrus in several smaller editions, fans will be more willing to pay smaller prices several times over. The six-song EP comes with a price tag of just under six dollars, which is a steal for anyone’s art.

Fans Will Complete The Project At The End

By the time She Is Everything, the final EP in this rollout, is released, fans will likely be able to simply hit “complete purchase” on iTunes and collect every song she’s shared as part of this project, which will seem like an irresistible deal to many. The same gimmick works whenever listeners purchase a number of songs that dropped before a full album was released, as they are allowed the option to simply fill in the blanks, not paying the full price for a new album...or at least that’s how it seems at the time.

This function might not add tens of thousands of units to her overall sales, but every little bit helps.
