Every year the Baeksang Arts Awards honor excellence in South Korea’s film, television and theater industry. This year the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony took place on May 13 in Ilsanseo-gu, Gyeonggi Province. The ceremony was hosted by actress Bae Suzy and comedian Shin Dong-yup.
Shin Ha-kyun and Kim So-yeon took top honors for their drama roles, while Yoo Ah-in and Jeon Jong-seo received top awards for acting in their respective films. Beyond Evil won three awards, one for Best Drama, Shin’s Best Actor award and another for the screenplay. It’s Okay To Not Be Okay also won three with a Best Supporting Actor award for Oh Jung-se, a Best Costumes award and a popularity award for actress Seo Ye-ji.

Seo Ye-ji, who starred in It’s Okay To Not Be Okay and Kim Seon-Ho, who appeared in Start Up, won the popularity award. Seo had almost 800,000 votes, while Kim had more than a million.
To qualify for this year’s awards, works had to be released between May 1, 2020 and April 11, 2021. Due to concerns about COVID19 the ceremony was again held without an audience.
