Actor Song Joong-ki is the 'it' guy nowadays. How did he manage to become 'it' in such a short period of time?

It's not an overstatement to say that 2011 is the 'year of Song Joong-ki'. His name is is all over internet search portals, all the time. From radio, entertainment programs, dramas and movies, Song Joong-ki has been really busy this year and with his craving for more, he's done main roles as well as supporting roles, expanding his acting spectrum.

With the start of the drama "Sungkyungwan Scandal" last year, which completely made women fall in love for him, he's been creating a stir with every work he does and has become the representative youth star in Korea.

Another drama that has stamped 'Song Joong-ki' on 2011 is the SBS drama "Deep-rooted Tree", in which he plays the younger Sejong (Lee Do) and leaves a strong impression, earning him the title 'good actor Song Joong-ki'. As word spread that he will be reappearing with the grown up Sejong (played by Han Suk-kyu), there have been phrases like 'Song Joong-ki grabs Han Suk-kyu by the collar' and such on portal sites.

Song Joong-ki's transformation continues as he goes from modern works to historical ones, always emphasizing his character. In the movie "Penny Pinchers" that is to be released November 10th, he brilliantly expresses the role of unemployed youth.

He plays Cheon Ji-woong, who always fails to get a job and can't even date as he is so poor, but is always confident. Through this role, Song Joong-ki attempted to transform his usual "Mother"s friend's son' and 'pretty boy' image. It was the most broken down character he's ever played, but as it is his first main role, he shows a lot of affection for it.

"A Werewolf Boy" is waiting for him next in line. In this movie he plays a character that will require a visual transformation as well as deep sentimentality.
