The University of Tennessee at Martin has been placed on probation by its regional accreditor for falling short of standards related to evidence of institutional effectiveness and general education competencies. At its meeting this week, the college commission of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools placed UT-Martin on probation for 12 months to give it time to come into compliance with the standards.

SACS also removed two institutions from probation: Louisiana College and Norfolk State University.
