H.M. The Queen presents the 5th National Fashion Industry Awards

Speaking at the event held at the Museo del Traje (Fashion Museum) in Madrid, Reyes Maroto highlighted the value of the careers of all the winners and offered them the Ministry's support in addressing new challenges in the future. She also announced that the Agenda for the textile industry, dressmaking and fashion would be presented soon, as "a roadmap for working together with the private sector to improve the competitiveness of the fashion sector."

The awards also recognise the contribution of the fashion industry to our economy, in which it accounts for 2.9% of GDP. Exports of Spanish companies total 21 billion euros and workers in companies linked to fashion account for 4.1% of all people in employment.

On the jury this year were Raül Blanco, secretary-general for Industry and SMEs; Galo Gutiérrez, director-general for Industry; Manuel Díaz de Marcos, Vice-President of the Spanish Textile Industry Council (Spanish acronym: CIE); Ángel Asensio, President of the Spanish Federation of Clothing Companies (Spanish acronym: FEDECON); Val Díez, the Director of the National Perfume and Cosmetics Association (STANPA); the fashion designer Purificación García; and Lourdes Álvarez, Director of Communication of the EFE Agency and director of EFE ESTILO.

National Special Achievement Award for Large Companies: CAMPER

Currently managed by the fourth generation of the Fluxà family, they have shops in more than forty countries.

National Fashion Designer Award: Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada

Her career spans more than 30 years, with a unique style that has been and remains a reflection of a different way of understanding fashion.

National Innovative Entrepreneur Award: OTEYZA

The textiles they use to manufacture capes are the same for men and women, as part of their contribution to the removal of gender barriers. Recently they have initiated a project to reintroduce the raising of sheep for wool.

Prize to the best Upstream Enterprise: La Industrial Algodonera

A leader in the manufacture of innovative shoelaces and a variety of articles for the textile, clothing and fashion sector, they play a key role in the industry's value chain.

Prize to the best Footwear Enterprise: Calzados Victoria

A company from La Rioja created in 1999 with the aim of manufacturing and distributing Victoria brand footwear, which dates back to 1915. Of note are its corporate commitment to workers, collaborators and manufacturers, as well as with respect to the environment, business organisation and society in general.

Prize to the best Textile and Clothing Enterprise: Dolores Promesas

Dolores Promesas (the commercial name of Leyenda Personal, S.L.) creates, designs, produces and distributes clothes and accessories for men and women. Dolores Promesas is a virtual female character presented as a strong, positive and adventurous woman.

Prize to the Best Fashion Accessories Enterprise: RELIQUIAE

Reliquiae is a luxury brand with 100% Spanish financial and human capital and international scope. Its distinguishing features are rigour and purity of design, a relentless quest and deliberation in the area of form, volume and colour, continuous research into materials and the incorporation of the Spanish crafts heritage.

Communication Award: HOLA magazine

At a time when there was barely any information about international fashion in Spain, Hola brought images of the catwalks of Milan, Paris, London and New York to the country. Its pages supported and continue to support the work of the great Spanish designers and provide news on the main national fashion shows.

Fashion Industry Promotion Award: Leonor Pérez Pita

Leonor Pérez Pita is an iconic figure who has become irreplaceable for her professional dedication over the last thirty-three years in charge of the Cibeles fashion show (now called the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid), the great promotional event for Spanish fashion.
