Playoffs Clinched - Twitter

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Blues are headed to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the seventh time in the last eight seasons.
With Arizona's loss to Colorado on Friday night, the Blues clinched a playoff berth for the 42nd time in franchise history - the seventh most in NHL history and the most of any franchise that is not an Original Six team.

On the morning of Jan. 3, the Blues were dead last in the League with a 15-18-4 record. They were 11 points behind the Anaheim Ducks, who owned the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Since then, the Blues have posted a 26-9-4 record (56 points), which has catapulted them to third in the Central Division. The Blues are just the seventh team in the NHL's Expansion Era (since 1967-68) to reach the postseason after ranking last in the League after New Year's Day and the first team to do it since the Ottawa Senators in the 1996-97 season.
The Blues' 26 wins since the start of 2019 are the second-most in the NHL in that span, while their 56 points rank third.
With five games remaining in the regular season, the Blues sit just four points behind the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets for the division lead.

"It's awesome," Ryan O'Reilly said of battling for playoff positioning. "It's one of the best things in hockey, when you're kind of playing meaningful games and preparing for playoffs. It's what it's all about. It feels good, but there's still a lot of work left, too."
