It’s that time of the year again. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Nov. 3, when the clock turns back an hour, extending the weekend by one hour.
That means that before going to bed Saturday night, you should turn your clock back an hour, the annual “fall back” ritual that shifts daylight back into the morning hours.
But hey! Isn’t daylight saving time supposed to go year-round now?
It’s tricky. Both Oregon and Washington state have passed legislation to make daylight saving time year-round. Before the Pacific Northwest can make the permanent switch, the federal government must give the states waivers.
Until that happens, we still have to adjust the clocks. So on Sunday, we fall back an hour. If you’re planning ahead, daylight saving time returns at 2 a.m. on March 8, 2020, when the clock will “spring forward” an hour, extending daylight into the early evening hours.
