Hear Lady Gaga’s Catchy New Country-Pop Song ‘A-Yo’
UPDATE: Lady Gaga has previewed the title track to her new album Joanne. A snippet of the song appears in a new ad for her Bud Light x Lady Gaga Dive Bar Tour.
Lady Gaga‘s upbeat, country-tinged “A-Yo” off Joanne has been released. The song was debuted during her Dive Bar Tour’s Nashville show.
The funky outlaw song shows the pop singer going in a rootsy new direction. She co-wrote the track with Mark Ronson, BloodPop and songwriter Hillary Lindsey, who has written the massive country hits like Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush” and Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” Above a stomping beat, Gaga utilizes fire and car metaphors — “I can’t wait to rev you up/ Faster than you can say ‘Ferrari.'”
“A-Yo” is the third Joanne track to be released prior to the album’s Friday release. It follows the raucous, grunge-y “Perfect Illusion” and the ballad “Million Reasons.” During her Dive Bar Tour, Gaga also debuted the Father John Misty-assisted “Sinner’s Prayer,” which has not been officially released.
“Everything she wrote about was honest, and you hear that in how she’s singing,” Ronson told Rolling Stone of Gaga’s work. “I was just playing it at a photo shoot and this kid said, ‘This is amazing – what is it?’ When I said it was Gaga, his mouth dropped in shock. She’s made incredible records, but this is raw and exposed in a way that maybe she’s never sounded before.”
