      Critics Consensus

A disappointing conclusion to the Matrix trilogy as characters and ideas take a back seat to the special effects.

Andrew T I don't understand the hate. The least impressive of the 3 movies but still pretty good nonetheless. Too much CGI, and not enough finality for it's ending are my only gripes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Kalvir K Story was good with a lot of high action scenes, although, there are lots of details which can be easily missed. The plot was well laid out with unexpected twists and turns along the way Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Appearanking M Just fine. Much better than the second one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/24 Full Review Howard H A great finale to series, more emotional and human back story than others in franchise. Keano takes a back seat and let's the cast deliver a proper punch. Mech Warrior, Alien, reminiscent of a proper 90s film. Does not deserve low judgement received at time. Opening is as imaginative as films can be. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/24 Full Review Alysha S 3.75. The final conflict is remarkably compelling. It is also wonderful to see where Morpheus is at psychologically at the end of the trilogy. The story also is strong enough. And a computer-generated municipality looks impressive. I also applaud the coloring throughout the entire film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review D F not as good storywise, and doesnt have the amazing action that part 2 (matrix reloaded) has Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Ansen Newsweek The original Matrix was full of dizzying surprises. But it's turned out that the Wachowskis didn't have many more tricks up their sleeves. Mar 12, 2018 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Finale with same heavy violence, weaker script. Rated: 2/5 Dec 28, 2010 Full Review Nick Schager Lessons of Darkness Zzzzzz. Rated: C May 4, 2005 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand The Wachowskis may have something in their theory that the world is simply a complex operating system humans are simply virtual programs.... Their dialogue feels written by a computer program, and for that matter acted by a collection of CGI figures. Sep 9, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Perhaps it’s wrong and narrow-minded to hope that the Wachowskis would only live up to their original film, but their brand of mythology expansion narrows the possibilities and limits the viewer’s enjoyment of this universe. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 12, 2022 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Just as much as the last entry was a piece of a story, this one is a fragment, telling so little of the yarn that it’s the least complex and most inessential of the series, save for the fact that it finally wraps up character loose ends.
