David W I loved Leslie Neilsen as both a straight dramatic actor and latterly the king of deadpan comedy. This though was not his finest hour and feels forced and dare I say a little lazy. It's the script rather than Nielsen which is at fault though and he manfully tries to save the sinking ship but sadly, largely fails. It's not a total train wreck but given the premise and a such a wonderful lead actor it should have been better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Wayne K Ever since Airplane! in 1980, Leslie Nielsen has been one of the highest regarded spoof actors of his or indeed any other generation, thanks to his blend of charisma and deadpan acting. But this didn't always produce exceptional results, and such is the case with Repossessed. While not a complete failure, so much of the comedy feels forced and even lazy. There's pretty much nothing here that Nielsen hasn't done better in other films. Coming out a whole 17 years after the movie it's spoofing, The Exorcist, it's nice to see Linda Blair lampooning the role that brought her worldwide attention and, from all accounts, decades of misery, but it's mostly just a predictable collection of jokes about green vomit, spinning heads and speaking in a croaky voice. I enjoy the shots it fired at televangelists and their desperation for any kind of publicity, and money of course, but it's so directionless and unfocussed, tossing in references to whatever was popular at the time. The exorcism in the TV studio segment seems to go on forever and rarely raises more than a giggle. It's almost impossible to dislike Nielsen, since he's got charm to spare, but here's he's given nothing to do beside recycle shtick that's he done better before and since. An easy enough viewing experience, but one that won't stick in your mind. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/15/23 Full Review Steve D With this cast it should have generated some laughs. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review jacob s Absolutely hysterical. My go to Halloween film. I laugh so hard every time. Top notch Leslie Neilson. And that ending? An absolute riot. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Landon J Its an exorcist parody and has loads of great laughs. I didn't watch it for a serious plot or expect one (the movie barely takes itself seriously) . But it was a good film to wind down the day with. I laughed at quite a few well constructed jokes and scenes Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/07/22 Full Review antonis k Linda Blair shines once again in a familiar for her part but this parody is little on laughs and very cheap. Making almost 'The Exorcist 2' a much better "parody" by the end. (3/10) Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
