STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Outerbridge Park-and-Ride, located near the Outerbridge Crossing in Pleasant Plains, will soon see its first buses since the Staten Island express bus redesign in August 2018.
Academy Bus, operators of the SIM23 and SIM24 express bus routes, announced Monday that the SIM24, which runs from the borough’s South Shore to Midtown Manhattan, will start using the park-and-ride starting Monday, Jan. 13.
As of that day, the Outerbridge Park-and-Ride will be the first stop in the morning and the last stop in the evening for the SIM24.
This change will give commuters the option of driving to their morning express bus without worrying about struggling to find a parking spot and potentially missing their bus.
Additional changes to the SIM24 will also take effect on Jan. 13, including: the elimination of the bus stop at Huguenot Avenue and Amboy Road; the relocation of the morning stop at Huguenot Avenue and Drumgoole Road farther north on Huguenot Avenue past Drumgoole Road East; the relocation of the evening stop at Huguenot Avenue and Drumgoole Road to Drumgoole Road West and Huguenot Avenue.
The existing SIM24 stop at Hylan Boulevard and Luten Avenue will also switch over to a SIM23 stop.
Some minor time adjustments will be made to the SIM23 schedule in an attempt to provide more consistent and timely service.
