Having survived a final-frame decider to defeat Allan Taylor in his third-round clash on Saturday evening, Murphy returned to the Tercentenary Sports Hall on Sunday to see off Barry Hawkins 4-1, Mark Williams 4-3 and Nigel Bond 4-0 to book his place in the final.
Murphy managed three century breaks across those games, including a 140 and a 137 in the whitewash over Bond as he headed into the clash with Trump full of confidence.
Despite trailing 1-0 and 2-1, the 34-year-old rallied to win three frames in succession, with runs of 60, 56 and 96 to clinch a winners cheque of 25,000 euros and the seventh ranking title of his career and first since the World Grand Prix 12 months ago.
Trump had earlier reached the final with victories over Sanderson Lam (4-1), Jack Lisowski (4-1) and Ryan Day (4-2) but the 2016 European Masters champion was unable to claim his second ranking title of the campaign.
It was the Bristol potter's eighth defeat in 14 ranking finals, which also include the 9-8 loss he suffered at the hands of Stuart Bingham in the Welsh Open last month.
Murphy told worldsnooker.com: "I had a few tough matches during the tournament and that prepared me for the final.
"There are a few of us who think that Judd is the best player in the world at the moment, he is strong in every department. So I knew I would have to play well to beat him.
"This is the first time I have come to Gibraltar and I have really enjoyed it. Everyone has been fantastic, we have had great support and I’m looking forward to coming back next year."
Trump added: "I had enough chances but I didn’t take them. Shaun punished me and he deserved to win because he was the best player of the tournament."
