K-pop stars MAMAMOO are back with a fun, chill dance single called “딩가딩가 (Dingga)" — and a striking, retro-inspired music video to match.

The four members of MAMAMOO (Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa) are known for their incorporation of jazz, retro-pop, and R&B sounds, as well as their general powerful, sophisticated vibe. The new single certainly delivers on that reputation. “Dingga,” which comes from the Korean phrase “dingga dingga” (“the act of lazily enjoying one’s free time,” according to Soompi), is a feel-good bop with a music video to match.

The song itself is written for these pandemic times, with lyrics like “I just binge dramas/I can’t go driving/I feel a bit under the weather,” and “Night or day, I’m going round and round in the same place," per the Genius translation.

The colorful, lighthearted music video includes roller derby, diners, and arcades as the members joyfully dance and hang out with each other. They’re already considered one of the strongest vocal acts in K-pop, and “Dingga” just reinforces the talent. However, nothing could prepare us for Moonbyul and Wheein’s dance break, Solar dancing on top of a counter in her finest Chanel, or Hwasa at the end of the video looking like she was about to do crimes. Some gorgeously risky fashion choices completed the kiss-off — Hwasa wore a Gucci bra over a shirt and had her boxers exposed, a possible nod to the trolls who stirred up controversy over an outfit she wore to the airport back in 2019.

“Dingga” is the first hint at what’s to come on MAMAMOO’s 10th mini album TRAVEL, which will drop on November 3. Per Soompi, the song was composed by Kim Do Hoon from Rainbow Bridge (Mamamoo’s record label) and Park Woo Sang. It should come as no surprise that Hwasa took part in the composition of the song and Moonbyul participated in writing the lyrics, considering all four of the group members released solo projects earlier in the year.

If their solo projects and “Dingga” are any indication, the MAMAMOO comeback is bound to be a good one. Until November 3 arrives, we’ll be taking the members up on their invitation to dance.
