Decca Aitkenhead writes the weekly interview in G2, interviewing leading figures from the worlds of politics, literature, arts and entertainment. She began her career in journalism at the Manchester Evening News, working as a freelance columnist and features writer whilst reading politics and modern history at Manchester university. After graduating she completed a post-graduate diploma in journalism at City University, and was hired as a feature writer and columnist by the Independent, before moving to the Guardian in 1997 as a columnist. She left in 1999 to write a book, and worked as a freelance features writer for the Mail on Sunday, Sunday Telegraph and  Evening Standard before rejoining the Guardian in 2004. She won the 2008 Interviewer of the Year award, and has been a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4 and 5 Live. She lives in London with her partner and two young sons.
