In Narragansett, at the corner of Kingstown Road and Strathmore Road, is a tall wooden sculpture of the head of a Native American.

The location is at the Sprague Memorial Park. However, it is literally at one corner of the park, clearly visible at the intersection where there is a traffic light. There is enough room on the shoulder along Strathmore Road to park there for a short while.

The plaque at the base states:

"Enishkeetompauog Narragansett
created by
Sculptor Peter Toth
Stonework by the Narragansett Indians
Dedicated August 12, 1982
Plaque donated by
Narragansett Lions Club"

The statue is a slight characterization of a Native American. The work has many very fine details showing a weathered and wrinkled face and well done. The head is topped by a short arrangement of feathers rising from behind. Two locks of hair come out to either side of the head. Necklaces are arranged below the head.

The sculpture appears to be in good shape, though there is some kind of green paint on the right shoulder of the sculpture. Hopefully, it can come out.

The sculptor, Peter Toth, is a well known sculptor who carved a series of these "Whispering Giants" across the US and Canada.
