Trot Nixon to throw first pitch before Red Sox ALDS Game 1
Former Red Sox right fielder Trot Nixon will throw the ceremonial first pitch before Game 1 of the American League Division Series at Fenway Park on Friday.Nixon was drafted by the Red Sox in 1993 and played in Boston from 1996 through 2006, including the 2004 World Series win. He also played for the Cleveland Indians and New York Mets. Nixon, a North Carolina native, is also organizing a fundraiser to benefit those affected by Hurricane Florence in that state. The collection will begin when gates open at 5:32 p.m. and continue through the second inning, the team said.Donations will benefit the American Red Cross' relief efforts in North Carolina, the Red Sox said.
