Not bad, but can be improved
I have been selling and buying on Sedo actively since 2005 with over 100 successful transactions over the years.
In general - Sedo is ok with fast money transfer once the domain name is sold, paid for & transferred. They do charge a pretty penny for their services, but that's normal within the industry.
My major question with them is - there is no way to contact the person who made an offer. In other words, let's say you got a $500 offer. You think it's fair, but as always you try to make a better deal so you counter with $1000. At this point sometimes negotiations continue and sometimes the potential buyer just cancels everything. Instead, if I were Sedo, what I would do - is try to negotiate on sellers behalf, saying, you can always cancel, but how about we give a $500 offer one more try and add a comment, something like - final offer. Now when it comes to the seller - same thing. Once the potential buyer cancelled the negotiations - there is no chance for the seller to restart / contact, etc. Maybe if the seller at this point could say - ok, $500 is a deal - sedo would sell 25 % more domain names and everyone would be happier.
Another negative thing is dead beat buyers. This is more of a buyers issue then sedo, however, if they had the account info and so on, it would be much more difficult to purchase something and then just not pay. I am not 100 % certain what can be done here legally, but I am certain things can be improved. Ebay for example does it. When you make an offer on anything to the buyer and he agrees - your cc / bank get's automatically charged for this amount.
In ether case - i think there is a room for improvement, specially with the fees they charge.
In the same time - Sedo is still one of the best and oldest domain name reseller platforms out there and they do work.
