💪 Our authors never cease to impress us. Among the many remarkable scholars who put their trust in us is historian Johana Kłusek, who contributed a study to the new Brill publication "Exciting News! Event, Narration and Impact from Past to Present." She wrote it at her local cafe in Krakow while her twins were three months old. Hats off to all the academics out there juggling parenting and publishing! You can find the volume here: https://lnkd.in/eCceeyJ7 #DeGruyterBrill #History #News #Media #Publishing #Parenting

👟 It was a cold and rainy week in Berlin, but nothing could stop this set of hardened runners from joining the annual company run on Wednesday. Over 1,000 companies participated this year, but dare we say our team had the best T-shirts and the tastiest bratwurst back at the De Gruyter courtyard afterwards. Well done to everyone involved! #DeGruyterBrill #CompanyRun #Firmenlauf

📰 We're delighted to see our author Dahlia Scheindlin's book, "The Crooked Timber of Democracy in Israel," reviewed in the prestigious Foreign Affairs Magazine, published by the US Council on Foreign Relations. Scheindlin is a political analyst and polling expert who regularly contributes to The Guardian and Haaretz newspapers. According to Foreign Affairs, she "provides a brisk, fresh history, avoiding many of the now hackneyed assessments of the myriad virtues and vices of Israel’s leaders, instead crafting a lucid assessment of the conflicting ideological and political commitments that have weakened democracy in Israel—not least, the decades-long failure to acknowledge, much less resolve, the question of Israel’s relationship with the land and people of historic Palestine." Read the full review by Lisa Anderson (Dean Emerita of the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University) here: https://lnkd.in/e92CsN9Z Learn more about the book here: https://lnkd.in/eqNZ3Ntr #DeGruyterBrill #Politics #ForeignPolicy #Israel #Democracy

On World Book and Copyright Day, we asked our team member Sujin Shin for her favorite book as she's been cataloguing and digitizing our archive of titles inherited from Akademie Verlag, one of the most important publishers in former East Germany. Sujin picked "On General Relativity," by André Mercier, Hans Jürgen Treder and Wolfgang Yourgrau, from 1979. She says: "This is a book that I came across while doing the Akademie books and recognized the last name of one of my old professors from Brandeis. I emailed him a while ago to ask about it; turns out one of the authors was his father (who has long since passed). Finding this book reconnected me and my prof, Palle Yourgrau, and it was so nice!" 📚🧡🎓 #DeGruyterBrill #AkademieVerlag #WorldBookDay Brandeis University
