Great for Pocket Hole Joinery
Overall, I would highly recommend these screws for anyone looking to make pocket hole joints in their woodworking projects. The screws are made of high-quality materials and are designed specifically for use with the Kreg pocket hole jig system. One of the best things about these screws is their length. At 2-1/2 inches, they're long enough to provide excellent holding power for even the thickest of woods. They also have a coarse thread that grips the wood tightly, ensuring a strong and secure joint.Another great feature of these screws is their flat-bottomed head. This design allows the screws to sit flush with the surface of the wood, making them ideal for use in visible areas of your project where aesthetics are important. Finally, the Kreg 2-1/2 inch pocket hole screws are very affordable, and the cost per screw is quite reasonable. This makes them an excellent value for anyone who frequently uses pocket hole joints in their woodworking projects. In conclusion, the Kreg 2-1/2 inch pocket hole screws are an outstanding product that I would highly recommend to any woodworker. Their length, coarse thread, flat-bottomed head, ease of use, and affordability make them an excellent choice for creating strong and secure pocket hole joints in your woodworking projects.

The plastic container that the screws come in was enclosed in a black plastic bag with stickers for California stuff etc and a barcode that was correct for the 2 1/2" screws I ordered. When I opened the bag the plastic container had 1 1/4" screws in it. Returned. BTW these Kreg screws are really good if you have the right length screw.

Have used quite a few of these 2.5" Kreg screws for connecting 2x lumber in various projects, like the mobile carts that hold my planer, router table, and clamps. They have worked great.
Maybe this sounds silly, but it's a beautiful thing when a nice square butt gets pulled in tight and true with these screws. Rock solid. Love that.
For some projects I use the
Kreg SML-C250B-250 Blue-Kote Weather Resistant Pocket Hole Screws - 2 1/2", #8 Coarse, Washer Head, 250 count . Same screw, different weather.
Photos show carts for planer, clamps, and router table.

As a cabinetmaker you seem to have to either love pocket hole joinery, or hate it! However, as a woodworker making a few cabinets I had mixed feelings. Anyway I decided to take the plunge in a small way, and bought a "Kreg Mini Jig Kit  MINI JIG KIT " just to try it out!

The kit has not been used yet. The screws however are another matter entirely!!!

Do yourself a favor and try the Kreg screws, you will get rid of those drywall screws pronto, or at least relegate them to their proper second place role.

These screws cut their own pilot hole and have a reduced shank, so if you select the correct length, they allow the top board to pull down tight without your having to drill a clearance hole. Plus the washer head means no splitting of your wood.

BTW - the pilot drill from the kit, though it has never been used to drill a pocket hole to make a joint, has had lots of use as a countersink, it has a wonderful depth guide and is of course perfectly sized for the screws.

Warning, this pilot drill gives new meaning to the term "razor sharp" - even the flutes will slice the unwary, please don't ask me how I know this!!!

I’ve made several small wooden projects in the past and just recently bought into the Kreg Kool-Aid. Got a small R3 jig at a great price. Came with a starter set of screws, but you’ll find you run through them fast!

I made a small rustic side table and must have used 2 dozen screws. They are about $6 for a box of 50 and $26 for a box of 250 at the big box stores. This size is perfect for 2x4 joinery. $15 for this pack at Amazon is awesome.

Now that I’ve made one project using pocket screws I’m already part way done with a second matching table and have an entry way table planned. Then...well the list can become endless.

Screws came in the newer resealable Kreg plastic box not the cardboard box pictured. They were genuine Kreg screws. They work well. Easy to drive. They have square heads and do not come with a free bit like some other screws so just make sure you already have a square bit. Personally I find the square heads to a massive improvement over Philips and flat head screws, they strip far less often. Still not quite as good a torx (star) head screws if you ask me.

I use these screws with my pocket hole jig almost exclusively (great item from Kreg) however they could easily be used for any application. I prefer torx screws as I have still managed to scrip a few of these running them in at awkward angle into hard wood with an impact driver. Quality screws however they are a bit more expensive than comparable items.

If Kreg screws are what you want, buy them. If you just want self tapping wood screws you can find equally good screws for less from other brands.

These screws are great for fast assembly without any slipping like a phillips head. I used these to build some gates and they worked perfect. I use the kreg bit that c'bores but also has a starter hole about .5 inch deep. I had no splitting in joining 2x2 soft wood.

I have also used other kreg bits for cabinet building and they are wonderful. As long as you use fine thread for hard woods and coarse thread for soft woods you shouldn't have a problem with splitting. At least I haven't.

Grabbed a pack of these 21/2" pocket hole screws as they were reduced in price which doesn't happen often enough on Kreg stuff. They arrived in the newer plastic box - the boxes are actually quite handy to keep for small part storage, they stack nicely as well. Cheaper to buy these in the larger packs as well anyway.

Just watch out for the sharp bits when you break the corner seals - I just snagged and cut my finger on this pack tearing the seal tab off.

These 21/2" ones are suitable if you want to join 2x lumber - I'm currently using these on some 4x2 garage shelving framing. They're also the coarse thread variety, so suitable for softer woods like pine (4x2 framing lumber for example).

As usual with Kreg screws and their jigs, they work great. Nice 'bite' with these coarse thread ones and they create a really strong joint - I'm always kind of amazed how strong. I just finished building a kingsize bed for us and pretty much used all kreg pocket hole screws on that for both keeping screw holes hidden and strength. It's rock solid, as is the current garage shelf project.

If you're new to pocket holes: remember to try and avoid drilling a pocket hole through a knot and keep your drill or driver on a pretty low torque setting - otherwise you'll split the wood and/or wind these right through the pocket hole. If in doubt be gentle, you can always tighten up a bit more if you need to - not so easy to repair a split ;)

Using that advice which was given to me when I started using a Kreg jig, I've done over a thousand pocket holes using various length Kreg screws, and never had one split out yet (touch wood!).

Hope that helps.
