This is a hefty, comprehensive, non-technical resource for the serious autophile. Inclusion in this two-volume encyclopedia required that the particular make of car was intended for manufacture (even if it never did get manufactured). Grounds for exclusion were that first, the car was built for racing, and second, that it never made it off the drafting table. Both volumes in the set open with extensive color plate galleries of some of the more distinctive cars in the history of manufacture, and entries on cars, companies, and manufacturers often include b & w photos. Famous auto manufacturers like Ferdinand Porsche and Ferruccio Lamborghini receive rather in-depth entries. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR.
