IIM Lucknow students shine at International Agri-biz symposium in Shanghai

A three-member team from IIM Lucknow became the first team from India to participate in the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) Forum and Symposium at Shanghai, China

A three-member team from IIM Lucknow, represented by Aditi Joshi, Rahul Kejriwal and Nikhil Shanker, pursuing their Post Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management, became the first team from India to participate in the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) Forum and Symposium held at Shanghai, China from June 9 to 14, 2012.
The team’s performance in the international case competition and views in panel discussions received excellent reviews from reputed academicians and business leaders in the symposium, which saw participation from students and academia from leading global colleges such as Purdue University; corporate leaders including the CEO of Nestle China, and Chinese political leaders.
The students were guided by Prof Jabir Ali of the Centre for Food & Agribusiness Management at IIM Lucknow, who was participating in his 6th IFAMA Symposium. Prof Ali presented 3 research papers, all of which were well received.
The MBA programme in Agribusiness management is a full-time residential course designed to develop agribusiness leaders, entrepreneurs, and intrapreneurs with the vision, competence and attitude for promoting or growing agribusiness and agro-based enterprises with a strong international orientation. The programme will now enter its ninth year. Graduates of the programme have excelled professionally, working in leadership positions with leading corporates in India and abroad.
The programme, which costs about Rs. 600,000, offers a number of foundation courses in the functional areas of management blended with agricultural/ rural context specific courses, significant field exposure to provide hands-on experience and action orientation with global benchmarking and industry partnership for students.
Candidates are shortlisted for the interview on the basis of their performance in the CAT, scholastic achievement and relevant work experience. Group discussions and interviews are then conducted at Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and New Delhi in the end of February onwards. Final selection is based on performance in CAT, scholastic achievement, work experience, and performance in the group discussion and interview.
