Bhagavad Gita Chapter 17 – Rajasic Tapas and Tamasic Tapas decoded

Rajasic Tapas:
– Actions aimed purely for gaining selfish ends
– Actions aimed to gain the recognition and name in society
– Talks in haste, often in aggressive tones, manipulative and scheming
– Engaging in Self-praise, own enjoyments, successes, criticism of others
– Argumentative to prove oneself
– An angry and volatile personality
– Restless in general, agitated and complaining

Tamasic Tapas:
– Self-denial and self-torturing through ignorance
– Non-conformance to scriptural injunctions
– Acting without thinking
– Harsh and sarcastic in words
– Abusive use of language, prone to gossips and loose talk
– Dull, crooked, and cruel in mental demeanour
– Agitated and agitates others wherever they are
