Fire damages Willow convenience and liquor store

A blaze late Sunday night in Willow damaged a popular convenience and liquor store.

Multiple Mat-Su fire departments responded to the Townsite Food Mart on the Parks Highway around 11:20 p.m. for a report of a fire in the single-story building, Alaska State Troopers wrote in a statement.

“The fire was isolated to a single room in the structure and caused significant damage to that portion of the building,” troopers wrote.

There were no injuries reported, troopers said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The building houses a small convenience store with food counter and a separate liquor store. A gas station is located nearby. It wasn’t immediately clear how long the businesses would remain closed.
