>> FROM KCRA 3, THIS IS BREAKING NEWS. LISA: I'M LISA GONZALEZ. WE CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THAT BREAKING NEWS FROM SUTTER COUNTY. A MASSIVE FEIR STILL BURNING RIGHT NOW, DESTROYED A HISTORIC WALNUT FACTORY IN LIVE OAKND A AS OF RIGHT NOW, IT SHUT DOWN A PORTION OF HIGHWAY 99 THAT REMAINS CLOSED. THE REFI BROKE O AUTBOUT 8:00 THIS MORNING AND KCRA 3'S ERIN HEFT JOINS US LIVE WITH A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW, AND IT LOOKS EVEN MORE SMOKY THERE, ERIN, THAN JTUS 30 MINUTES O.AG ERIN: LISA, IT KEEPS GETTING SMOKY. IT WILL BE MASSIVE FLAMES AND THEY'LL GO AWAY, AND THEN SMOKE, YOU'RE SEEING LADDERS UP SPRAYING DOWN. THIS USED TO BE A WALNUT PROCESSING PLANT, JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THIS. IT'S COMPLETELY DECIMATED. THINGS ARE MELTED OONT THE GROUND. I WANT TO SHOW YOU THIS VIDEO THAT A VIEWER SENT IN EARLIER. THIS MASSIVE0, 1000-SQUARE-FOOT BUILDING WAS A WALNUT PROCESSING FAORCTY. PIE ALL ACCOUNTS, IT WAS COMPLETELY VACANT AND WAS ONLY BEING USED TO STORE WALNUTS. THE FIRST 1-9-1 CALL CAMINE AROUND 7:45 THIS MORNING. IT GARNERED A MASSIVE RESPONSE FROM THE AREA, INCLUDING WILSON, SUTTER, LINDA, YUBA AND CAL FIRE. THE FIRE ON THIS MASSIVE LOT, SO HOT THAT THE SURROUNDING HOMES WERE EVACUATED BECAUSE OF THE HEAT OF THIS FIRE WAS BEGINNING TO MELT THE SIDING OFF HOMES NEARBY. AS OF RITGH NOW, NO INJURIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED, BUT SOME NEIGHBORARS E EXPERIENCING FLOODI.NG >> LARGE BOXES THAT HAVE BEEN STACKED UP THAT HAD BEEN DAMAGED BY THE FIRE SO THEY'RE UNSTABLE. THERE'S METAL STRUCTURE HEAT STILL GOING TO BE IN THE AREA. THERE'S A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT COULD POTENTIALLY FALL ON SOMEBODY. >> WE DEFINITELY GOT THE WORSE DEAL OUT OF THIS BECAUSE BOTH OF OUR HOUSES ARE FLOODING PRETTY BAD. >> IT IS HISTORIL.CA WE'RE TALKING 1900s SINCE IT'S BEEN HERE. THE FLAMES WERE VERY LARGE. I COULD SEE THEM COMING FROM THE FICE.OF ERIN: THESE MASSIVE FLAMES MELTGIN BOXES. WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT IS MELTED PLASTIC. IT WAS JUST STACKED UP, JUST LIKE THIS. TAKE A LOOK AT THIS. THIS IS WHAT TSHI LOOKED LIKE. THERE WERE A BCH OFUN THESE STACKED BOXES ALL OVER THIS FACILITY. THEY ARE GONE. NOW, REDUCED TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS. THEY SAID THIS INVESTIGATION CAN TAKE DAYS AND DAYS AND DAYS TO SIFT THROUGH, BECAUSE JUST LOOK AT THIS MASSIVE BUILDING, THIS MASSIVE AREA. THEY'RE GOING TO MAKE SURET THA NOBODY WAS, IN FACT, INSIDE AND THAT THERE AREO N INJURIES, JUST LIKE THEY'RE REPORTI RIGNGHT NOW, BUT RIGHT NOW, AS YOU CAN SEE, PART OF 99 IS STILL COMPLETELY CLOSED OFF. PACIFIC UNNIO RAILROAD IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS BUILDING. THAT WAS SHUT OFF FOR A TIME BEING. NO UPDATE IF THAT'S OPENS A OF RIGHT NOW, AND LIKE YOU SAID, LISA, IT'S PRETTY SMOKY OUT HERE. BACK TO YOU. LISA: YEAH, AND YOU HAD MENTIONED BEFORE THAT BECSEAU IT'S ALSO SURROUNDED BY ALL OF THOSE RESIDENCES, WHAT'S THE LATEST ON TSEHO HOMES? SOME OF THEM EXPERIENCING SOME FLOODING FROM ALL OF THE WATER USED TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES? ERIN: YEAH, A LOT OF FLOODING, JUST BECAUSEF O THE AMOUNT OF WATER IT REALLY DID TAKE TO PUT THIS HUGE STRUCRETU OUT. A LOT OF THOSE HOUSES ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS STRUCTURE, ON THIS SIDE. A LOT OF PEOPLE SITTING OUT IN THEIRRIVE DWAYS, SITTING IN THEIR CARS, TRYING TO BREAK OUT THE GUTTERS, MAKING SURE THAT THE FLOODING IS MITIGATED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, BUT THAT'S WHAT THE COMMUNITY IS REALLY EXPERIENCING. THEY ALSO SHUT OFF ELECTRICITY TO THE AREA FOR A TIME BEING, JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT THE GRID IS SAFE AN TDHE NEIGHBORHOOD IS SECURE. A large commercial fire in Sutter County destroyed a nut processing plant on Friday. The blaze started Friday morning at the Diamond walnut processing plant, the Yuba City Fire Department said.Yuba, Sutter and Butte county fire crews responded to the fire. No injuries have been reported. Some residents have been evacuated from their homes as a precaution after calls came in about the fire around 8 a.m., according to Scott Smallwood, the undersheriff for Sutter County. Highway 99 was closed in the area for several hours but has since reopened. This is a developing story.
