Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) and global provider of staffing software Bullhorn bring you the SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator for the week ended April 13. 🔹 On a week-over-week sequential basis, temporary staffing hours worked were up 1.3%, as business picks up again following the Spring Break observed in many states. 🔹 Year-to-date, the median Y/Y growth rate is -14% for Commercial staffing, -11% for Professional staffing. By comparison, last year’s median Y/Y growth rate was -11% for Commercial staffing and -6% for Professional staffing. This suggests that market conditions for staffing businesses have deteriorated during the first quarter of 2024. 🔹 The year-over-year decline in the indicator is directionally in line with the decline in temporary help employment as reported in the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ monthly Employment Situation reports. The latest data, along with the SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator, suggest continued weakness in the industry despite strength in the overall economy. Missed SIA's US Staffing Industry March 2024 Forecast report? We forecast the US Staffing Industry will decline 3% in 2024 to reach a size of $184.6 billion, as the industry continues to pull back from prior peak levels. If we exclude the nurse staffing segments (that continue to normalize down steeply from pandemic levels), the remaining staffing industry is expected to be roughly flat this year, in aggregate. Our US Staffing Industry Forecast report can be used for benchmarking performance against the broader market, budgeting or investing decisions, and finding the most enticing segments of the industry. In this report we explain the micro factors that undergird our forecast, provide commentary on the dynamics specific to each segment and layout summary tables of our market size and growth rate estimates.
