LT GEN JFR JACOB, PVSM (RETD)

We are grieved to inform you of the sad demise of Lt Gen JFR Jacob, PVSM (Retd), Former GOC-in-C Eastern Command.
The General Officer was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery on 07 June 1942 and rose on to become the GOC-in-C Eastern Command from 31 July 1974 to 01 August 1978.
The General Officer was also the Governor of Goa from 19 Apr 1998 to 26 Nov 1999 and of Punjab from 27 Nov 1999 to 08 May 2003.
His demise on 13 Jan 2016 leaves an irreparable void in the Gunner Fraternity. We salute his immense contribution to the Indian Army and to the Nation, and offer our sincere condolences to the family. Wreath Laying Ceremony will be held at 1.45 PM at Brar Square, Delhi Cantt followed by burial at Judah Hyam Synagogue at No 2, Humayun Road, at 4 PM on 14 Jan 2016.
