Large fire at Tyson poultry meal plant in Hanceville, Alabama
Firefighters on Friday battled a large fire at Tyson's River Valley Ingredients plant in Hanceville, Alabama. Learn more in the video above.
"Say a prayer for the fire departments and employees at River Valley Ingredients," Hanceville Mayor Kenneth Nail said on social media at 1:22 p.m.
At 3:16 p.m., Nail said it was "still a working fire."
Crews battled the fire at the poultry meal plant on Cullman County Road 508 amid extreme heat. Temperatures were in the upper 90s with a heat index in triple-digits. A cooling station with large fans was set up at the scene to help firefighters stay safe in the heat.

Hanceville Fire and Rescue said on its Facebook page shortly before 4 p.m.
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management released the following statement:
“ADEM’s Emergency Response is on the scene at River Valley Ingredients in Hanceville to respond to the large fire at the plant. On scene officials have begun initial efforts to address environmental impacts. ADEM will assess the situation and respond appropriately."
"In addition, ADEM has determined that water used to extinguish the fire has been contained on site. At this time, there have been no discharges to waterways.”
The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
There are no reports of injuries.
