A Cairo Minute is a series of pictures made up of multiple shots taken over a minute or so, then stitched together to create a panorama. As in any busy city (Cairo has 12 million people) in any given place, people come and go. Some are moving and some are not in a rush. A single picture or moment can seldom capture the movement and feelings of watching the city go by. Life plays out in front of us and these scenes try to solve the problem of the limited frame of a still camera, making the results like a short clip of film in a still picture or a story board.

The pictures need careful examination as it is not possible to take it all in at a glance. We shamelessly edit in and edit out. We wait for things to happen and build up the collage. Edges are missing and often people look fragmented or incomplete, but that is all part of the experience. Click on the categories above
