Snoop Dogg returning to Flint for celebrity basketball fundraiser

FLINT, MI -- Rap legend Snoop Dogg is set for a return visit to Flint as part of the second annual "Hoop 4 Water" celebrity basketball game to aid in the city's water crisis.

The event organized by the Morris Peterson Jr. Foundation has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Dort Federal Event Center, 3501 Lapeer Road to raise funds for relief efforts.

Snoop Dog, born Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr., visited the city a number of times in 2016 and 2017, including a visit with Flint Mayor Karen Weaver to discuss the water situation and a Flint medical marijuana dispensary.

He teamed up with Peterson, a former standout at Flint Northwestern High, Michigan State University and 11-year NBA veteran, on the inaugural event in May 2016 through his foundation.

Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron, Harlem Globetrotters guard Carlos "Dizzy" English, Detroit rapper Trick Trick, pro boxer Anthony Dirrell, and former NBA player Mateen Cleaves all took the court during the first game.

Others in attendance included Spartans head basketball coach Tom Izzo, journalist Sway Calloway, Detroit Pistons dance team, legendary Flint rapper MC Breed's daughter Lexi Breed, and musician Mama Sol.

A list of celebrities for the 2017 game has not yet been announced, but tickets are currently on sale.

Tickets run $10.50-$48.50 on Ticketmaster, with VIP tickets including a meet and greet with Snoop Dogg and Peterson along with a gift bag. Pricing for VIP has not yet been announced.
