The Rockets turned down the Hornets’ trade offer for Dwight Howard, who remains in Houston after Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline.

Charlotte offered Al Jefferson and Spencer Hawes for the center, league sources told the News’ Frank Isola. The Rockets and Howard’s agent, Dan Fegan, were working hard to make a trade, but it didn’t happen.

After Houston’s practice Wednesday, Howard said he didn’t “pay attention” to trade talk and he only focused on his performance.

“I came out here to Arizona and spent some time here in the mountains, and I got away,” Howard said. “I just trained, and I got ready for the second half of the season. No matter what’s being said, the only thing I can control is what I do on the floor. That’s been my only focus.”

The eight-time All-Star spent eight seasons with the Orlando Magic before heading to the Lakers for a season. He’s been with the Rockets since 2013-14.
