Abstract

A high-precision method for determining the Compton wavelength of the electron is proposed, which relies on some of the unique properties of cryogenic environments. A uniform magnetic field will be trapped inside a precisely cylindrical superconducting tube. The measurement then requires the determination of the free precession frequency of 3He nuclei in this field and a measurement of the cross sectional area of the tube.
