FLINT (WJRT) - (01/21/16) - The University of Michigan-Flint kicked off a series of 8 lectures focused on the city's water emergency Thursday night.

It's free to the public and for the 10 university students enrolled, it's worth one credit without having to do any homework.

The goal is to educate the community on what happened, how we got here, what we do now to tackle the health crisis, and how to make sure this never happens again.

Thursday's first topic was a history of the city, setting the stage for explaining how the aging infrastructure is at the root of the problem.

The first hour is for panel members to talk about the issues. The second hour is for people to ask them questions.
